Whidbey Island Language Art & STEM Center (WILASC) is an endeavor to centralize and diversify learning and enrichment opportunities for the island community. We offer quality afterschool programs and camps in languages, art, music, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) for children aged 4-16. Join us in this journey to nurture a fun, supportive, and intellectually curious community of growing learners!

NEW: AFTER SCHOOL CLASSES IN OAK HARBOR

[CODING] Coding Class at Crescent Harbor Elementary

This class is for kids grades 2-4 eager to learn coding! We'll cover loops, variables, and statements while creating fun Scratch games. By semester’s end, they'll build their own, like tic-tac-toe or animations. No experience needed—just basic reading skills and a love for fun!

[DRUM] - Rhythm Explorers: Drumming Adventures at Crescent Harbor Elementary

Join this fun 6-week drumming class for grades 2-4! Beginners will explore rhythm through hands-on activities, group play, and creative games. No experience needed—just bring your excitement!

[ART] The Art of Paper Mache Sculpture at Oak Harbor Elementary

In six sessions, students will craft 3D sculptures using paper mâché and recycled materials. They’ll create creatures, paint their work, and sculpt realistic faux food from damp toilet paper.

AFTERSCHOOL CLASSES - LANGLEY

[MUSIC] Brazillian Beats - Intro to Samba Drumming

Jump into the vibrant world of Brazilian percussion in this high-energy drum class! Students will discover the exciting rhythms of samba, Brazil's most famous musical style, while learning to play authentic instruments like the surdo, tamborim, caixa, and agogô bells.

[SPANISH] - Spanish Adventures (Beginner/Intermediate Levels) at SWCC

In this mixed-level Spanish class, students will acquire language skills through storytelling, songs, games, hands-on projects, and other immersive experiences. Lessons are topic-based and our instructor, a Venezuelan native and Spanish teacher of the Waldorf School, will focus on improving students' communication skills as well as expanding their vocabulary and enhancing pronunciation.

[ART] Creative Artmaking with Miss Meagan

Each week, students work on several projects that nurture their artistic creativity and expand their imagination at the South Whidbey Community Center.
