About the instructor
Eldritch Black (Derrick Sutton) is the author of spooky stories for Middle Grade readers and adults who enjoy magical adventures. He was born in London, UK, and now live on Whidbey Island in the Pacific Northwest of America, right near a giant octopus, and other unmentionable, fearsome beasts. Some of these creatures might look like chipmunks, but I’ve seen them transform by the silvery light of the full moon, and they’re definitely not worth messing with!
His latest book series is called Weirdbey Island, which features a secret organization called ‘The Society of The Owl And Wolf’, a brave circle of friends, and all manner of magical mishaps. So far there’s been cursed pirates, a mind-controlling Jackalope, fairground ghosts, aliens from faraway places, and a most sinister group of witches.
Eldritch has also written a novel about where the monsters go after dawn called The Book of Kindly Deaths, a Christmas story concerning Santa Claus and his arch-foe Krampus, and a Steampunk adventure called ‘The Clockwork Magician’.
On the non-fiction front, Eldritch is writing a book about the craft of writing. He is passionate about imparting the love of writing to the young generations through his writing, school visits, and writing workshops.
